I am from the U.S. It is old news here, really. Maybe in some areas of ultra-conservative/liberal residency, it might be an issue. But, for the most part, we get what the ad is all about. I just think Heinz could have done this joke a lot better and appealed to many more customers. We who got sick and tired of the Theresa Heinz Kerry parade of liberal lunacy during the last presidential election, are admittedly paranoid of her ultra-liberal (elitist)agenda. We probably need to drop it.

So, by your theory, the thought of two males kissing each other never crossed their minds as something which would be controversial? Really? I get the joke, slouise. I get the message. However, it was either poorly conceived, incompetently approved, or it seems the emperors clothes are being worn here. I mean, is Heinz so desensitized to gay controversy that this got by them as "no one could possibly be offended by this." Really?

Also to answer why the kiss because as I have explained it's meant to be his wife not a guy thats just how we see his wife in the ad because she has the mayo , you really think someone in marketing for Hienz thought I know lets make an ad for our new deli mayo but we have to have a gay kiss just to P*** the people with more traditional values , I think not it was more than likely hey wouldn't it be funny if we had mom but shes a NY deli guy because her sandwhiches now have that NY deli taste !!!

It was meant to be funny nothing more and as for not being a huge issue where may I ask are you from as I am from England and this is one place it has been banned because of the huge debate that has come from this being aired here there has also been disscussions on daytime TV discussion shows here as well as the show that is shown in the above film in america so people in 2 countries I would say huge issue and as for your last comment about 1/2 the senior class then shout I agree

One item about Rupert Murdoch... He's not the conservative you would think he is. He's an extraordinary businessman. He knows the media like no one else. For instance, did you know that Rupert Murdoch is the largest purveyor of video pornography in the world? Yep. He owns the Dish Network, which has more porn than anyone else. Strange "bedfellows" huh?

Ok, aside from Hannity, O'Reilly, and Limbaugh, who else? My point is, they are such a small part of the overall media in the "Colonies." (wink) I had heard that about "The Sun" (still the catch of the day in this middle spread?) However, you can see here on YouTube the inarticulate and liberal-enforced public school system at work. The illiteracy of our young people, is disasterous. Which is part of why I am conservative/traditionalist. I hate to see the trend keep going downhill.

One more thing, I wanted to pick up on your "liberal media monopoly" comment. Yes, the BBC is very left wing which is awful because it's publicly funded so it should be completely neutral and things should change, but apart from that I really disagree. The most popular newspaper in the UK (by a long way) is The Sun, owned by Rupert Murdoch... who also owns Fox News of course! The thing is, I'm a right-of-centre guy but I'm embarrassed that O'Reilly, Hannity etc are on my side of the spectrum

Thank you for your commendation. I'm not a 'liberal' in the U.S. sense of the word. In economics I'm right wing and in my views on society, I'm liberal on some issues (e.g. gay marriage) and conservative on others (e.g. law and order). Anyway, yes I suppose you could say it's a good result for Heinz if people are discussing it on TV and giving them free publicity. The ad got some media attention in the UK but the kiss itself wasn't a problem, it just seemed like a bizarre way to promote mayo

By the way, Lyls, I could also say about your comments, "Typical Phil Donahue, Dan Rather, Woopi Goldberg, Wolfe Blitzer, Mike Wallace, Morley Saffer, Peter Jennings, Brian Williams, Bill Moyers, Barbara Walters, Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'Donnel, (etc.) comments." Rush Limbaugh IS EQUAL TIME compared to the overwhelming number of liberal commentators and opinions who have a lock on the main-stream media.

Well, you assume wrong. Please tell me where you are getting your statistics. "Extra Rights" means legislation which doesn't need to be written because it is already part of the legal code. Underlining "gay" or any other mode of discrimination is redundant in current legal code. There are already laws protecting these minorities. Legislatures pass them to on a good public face so liberals/conservatives or any political group, will see them as "their kind of politician." It's just dumb.
