You may also specialize in graphic design for direct marketers. Not many graphic designers understand the special needs of copywriters.

Al I can say is, "Go for it!" The type of writing that your professor was thinking of may be a little different from writing advertising copy but you have a platform to launch from.

The filed is wide open and once you love writing then it will be a no-brainer for you. Although copywriting can seem a little anti-academic in terms of style of writing.

I'm coming to the end of a degree in graphic design and although my skills as a designer are strong I've been told that my written and linguistic talents are exceptional. I do enjoy writing more than anything else, so I think a career in copywriting could be perfect for me. I'm hoping that my knowledge of design elements such as grid systems and typography should help me along the way. Thanks for such an inspirational video!
