You are rationalizing, MukisaShaniqua. If you study the history of the Christian religion, you will understand that the bible was just a bunch of letters arranged together by arrogant, sinful, misguided men. The western religions that exist today are the remnents of much older religions, mixed together, and mutated for the government power structures. The Truth Will Set You Free. Be smart; and don't resist it. Better to know nothing, than to live a lie. Right?

Can anger truly always be wrong? I hold that apathy is the bigger killer. What is imperfect about being angry that women get raped, people get tortured, Nazis kill Jews, and the genocides continue into the 21st century? Should I sit back and not care? Not experiencing anger towards that which is wrong and evil seems inexcusably pathetic and evil within itself. Apathy kills.

Defending artists is always a trickier work. I care not to, their whims may go where they want, also I don't care to defend the Catholics of Christianity, someone may if they care. If you want difference from the pagan Greco-Romans look to Varro and Cicero studied well their Gods and discouraged it to be known that all their Gods were men who had died and nothing more, against philosopher opinion. Secondly moderation was little in call, rather they cared to have everything good but themselves.

Ahhh. . .Well, I am relieved that you are not worshipping Zeus. But I would certainly understand if you were. Zeus, was the King of the Anunaki gods (little g), and was definately very much male. Whereas God is certainly beyond naughty sex, right? In the Vatican, the paintings of God are strikingly similar to Zeus. I find this to be an amazing coincidence. I wonder why God would want his people to refer to him in the masculine. It seems that the Giver Of Life would more appropriately be female.

"In religion and politics, people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from 'authorities' who have not themselves examined the questions at issue, but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing" - Mark Twain "An incredibly small number of christians have read the Sumerian Tablets, written before the bible, & containing many of the original bible stories." - me

A great difference in character and death, and for one triumph over death. Many after the resurrection had no trouble giving their life for the risen Christ for they had seen him risen and knew the little hold death had for them, and people today yet continue to go to their deaths for him. The many laymen and philosophers have not been ill of mind either, they have spent their time trying to understand the intricacies of the faith. Christianity is not a mere fool's errand.

And now I find out that I said that God was male? We call him God the father, as he has informed us to call him, but to really believe that he is a male to the same degree as humans? Jesus was full man and God, I believe that, but not with the need for the opposite sex, and yet not to say without temptation. Euripides was a playwright, he died a terrible death. Socrates was a philosopher, he died for his beliefs. Jesus was God and died the worst of deaths for the sins of all, and rose again.

I find it absolutely fascinating that you, Magicelemental, think that the Supreme Consciousness of All-There-Is is male!?! Have you thought that out? Is there such a thing as 'maleness' without 'femaleness'? Is your 'God' anatomically correct? What is a man without sex organs? Is there a female counterpart? If not, does your ManGod ever get lonely for that which only a man and a woman can do together? I hope you can appreciate the absurdity of assuming that God is male. Now, Zeus was male. Hmmm?

and event further The Republic Book VII "he no longer thinks the old opinions honourable and of his own kith and kin, as he did once, and he cannot find the true ones. What other life do you expect him to give himself up to? Will he not probably go straight to the life of flatterers?"
