I was able to figure out his transformation with in a minute of having him out of package and I even figured out how to transform him correctly. All the animated figures are simple.

in g1 snarl was a stegosaurus plus the triceratops is slag if my memory serves my right.

I think it's because 'slag' has become something of a Transformers swear-word. Bumblebee says it all the time ("Slag yeah!") - so I guess they just found it preferable. It's like being called "Shit" lol
