I interviewed Alex Rutterford up in a London cafe about this video, he's a great bloke. He said that virtually nothing in this video was animated, just frame by frame animation - awesome!
Any questions that I might know about this vid from Alex's words I'll try to answer.

the more i listen to it..
the more i realise this track is very simple indeed and downright logical.
these guys are really fucking smart with some very high IQ to be able to produce stuff like that. the very idea of trying to depict sound in visuals for instance.
you can listen to gantz graf (and not only) tens of times, and there are still new sounds, and structes you ommited.

my very favourite bit is between about 0:55 and 1:05 where it stretches out then boom and that ring zooms out from it and then that spinny stuff is happening, so cool X)
