I was about to say, it's because Americans want people to go along with their policies. If children are taught about how much the Jews suffered throughout history they will be much more willing to go along with the USA giving Israel weapons and aid. It's quite simple. Since Israel is a military asset of the US, the US gov. doesn't want their citizens to question their policies.
