if u insist on using a jig hook 2 do it at least hook the minnow as u would a silicone one, so the hook comes out its back and the lead is in/by its mouth, the pike will be less suspicious

awesome. I've always wanted to see the fishes' reaction when they get hooked [am I sadistic?D8]
Though is it because it's winter so they're kinda "slow"/veg 'cause the 2 pikes I caught during summer were biting like hell >,>' (that coming from an amateur)
