yeah you're right, phantom power doesn't effect dynamics at all.. does nothing, just runs back and forth through the boards.

thanks for the tips!

Monitor effectiveness is greatly determined by the microphone pattern. Although placement of the monitors directly to the back of each microphone works ok for typical cardioid mics (Shure SM58, EV ND267, Sennheiser E835), it is poor placement while using hyper and supercardioid mics (Shure Beta58, EV RE767, Equation DSV10) because of the rear lobe in the pickup pattern of these mics that otherwise exhibit superior resistance to feedback. Also, they sound better aimed at your ears than your nose!

it B cool if taught how to separate the mix between the highs and lows

A dynamic mic that employs phantom power? That's a new one on me.

dynamics arent effected by 48v and there are electret condensers made 4 live, eg beta 87 or sm86. they are almost as durable and tend 2 sound more natural and hav better transient responce

INCORRECT!!!! Dynamic mics should not be damaged by Phantom Power. Most older boards have phantom power on all channels.

This was good information for people new to the field. Thanks for posting this. Jeff - owner of Sound And Light Technicians, Colorado

Another characteristic of dynamic mics is that they have a slower capsule response, because of how they work. This makes them better for some applications and not as good for others, of course. |
