Bookrten has a point a lot of people are bringing back the old school and are making it kinda commercial ,hip-hop and r&b artist's even rockers but I like this girl to me it's a question of which artist can bring back the old and add to it, make it better and which artist's are just Swaggerjackin' excuse my slang

I disagree. I like how the video represents how people used to do it back in the day, and how it's for a more sophisticated crowd. Nowadays, you can hardly find a song that doesn't use fake, computerized instruments, and Corinne gives us something real. She's not trying to give that "I'm a diva" thing - she's natural. Besides, this video is also a reference to black culture - just look at the Harlem Renaissance.

yeah dont get me wrong, i only made this observation because I am a fan of her music. I discovered her from "river" on the Herbie Hancock album, and i've never heard anything like her voice. then I seen this video, which perhaps doesn't wholly represent her.
thats all

Good observation. Yeah most people don't pay attention. Of course you've seen Chissete MeShelle as well. She has tons of talent but is steered in the wrong direction. Yet Ms Bailey made a beautiful album and wowed the world with her appearance. She also made some nice vids as well. I guess this one was meant to appeal in some way to the urban audiance, but they could of been a little bit more original. She's not done yet.

i hate the trendiness and marketability of the "billie holiday" style vocal influence that has resurfaced in pop music. it is pathetically novel, and whats more: the 'divas' are always portrayed in the videos in a golden tint, in an urban setting. all the originality of, oh lets say, if a vocalist sang just like an old jazz singer! but the masses are stupid. i'd take any pop music trend of the past decade and a half over this bizarre and annoying movement. |
