I watched the Derby on TV at a party with 2 of my friends for my friend's bday. We couldn't hear anything over everyone's voices but when the camera showed Eight Belles down we're like, "That looks like Eight Belles. I hope she'll be okay." I was praying that she would get back up and be okay. And then when the guy (i think it was the vet) said she had been put down, we just heard "she was immediately euthanized" and we just started sobbing. It still makes me sad to remember that day. RIP.
