One radioshack spool is about 300 turns. That will work, but you'll have to spin the magnets pretty fast, like snapping your fingers with the nail between.
If you want a less-simple generator, you can buy a second kit of radioshack wire and add another spool of #30 wire. Just clean off about 1/2 inch of the ends of old and new wire, and twist them together many times. Be careful to keep winding the wire in the same direction as before!

When I was wrapping the wire around the cardboard there was no more wire left on the spool. I don't think it was 300 turns so I don't know waht to do. Do I connect it with another one? And if so how.

you can't get more energy outputted than is inputted. and typical machines don't even have 100% efficiency, as energy is usually lost to heat and friction. but if you create a device that doesn't lose any energy (100% efficiency) you could technically create a perpetual motion device.
