Health officials say some buffalo feed may contain cancer-causing dioxin. It may all go back to the trash crisis in Naples earlier this year. Overfull landfills forced people to burn piles of garbage and industrial waste in streets and open fields. And that could have released the dioxin into the air and, eventually, into the feed. However, some have speculated that the mafia's may also be to blame. That's because the Italian mafia is though to be involved in illegal waste disposal. Buffalo mozzarella is best known abroad for its use on pizza. Although purists also eat it on its own or with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil. Now the Italian government is urging the international community not to panic. Japan and South Korea have already suspended Italian cheese imports.
