Other notable thing is the resources to build a fleet, i know of several vulcanic planets in Star Wars exploited by the fleets Mustafar, Sulust and so on, the imperial shipyards are gigantic for example the Kuat Drive Yards- a ring of shipyard facilities around the planet Kuat.

Yeah at the battle in first contact the federation could only scrape together a pathetic amount of ships to protect their HOMEWORLD from the borg. They were also stupid enough to tell the big E to stay away from the battle. With a pathetic show of military tactics and force seen in various episode I can safely say the federation would be steamrolled by the empire.

Yes I've seen ALL of DS9 they never once mentioned any firepower levels of ship numbers to even come close to the CIS much less the empire.

I figured there'd be a bit more than five. I was merely noting, though horribly vague, that I've seen about five ships or so at any given time. And I think they were docked. The Feds need to be a bit better equipped since they seem to get into several near situations.

Of course, the federation is no match for the empire, im just poiting out that the fed fleet doesnt have 5 ships, as Cloud2400 claims ;) One thing we need to remeber is that the empire has a huge territory compared to the federation, so of course more ships are required. The empire is made for conquest and battle, the federation is based on the peacefull co-existence of different cultures :)

11,000? They still don't have the number the empire has MILLIONS of military ships with greater firepower shielding and speed when compared to the federations ships. The ferengi and bajorans would be fighting too if their galaxy is getting invaded by the empire unless the ferengi sell info to the empire and stab the federation in the back maybe that would spare them...MAYBE.

Acutally the Federation is composed of 11,000 warp capable ships. and I dont see what the ferengi and the bajorans would be doing in a war. The ferengi would probably try to sell merchandise to the empire and make a hell of a lot of money ;)
