Best thing to do if anyone like these civilian Bushites tries to manhandle you while speaking out: carry a sharpened pencil in your hand; if they lay a mitt on you, drive it through their eyeball into the base of their brain with your palm. See: "Will", by G. Gordon Liddy.
A lit cigar ground into their face can work, too.
Don't do it to a police officer or government law enforcement person, however: better to preserve your legal right in an action for wrongful arrest or excessive force.
