Originally recorded in 1983 for the NASA documentary 'For All Mankind', the release of which was delayed until 1989. Eno released it on the album 'Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks' in 1983. This is one of the most beautiful and ethereal pieces of music I've ever heard. I want this piece of music played at my own funeral.

This piece could repeat for years; I would never get bored.

well yeah, but i mean thats a very personal thing, i could imagine laying in a green field, no one around, looking up at a night sky, listening to the wind blow through every single blade of grass, like a hand through someones hair caressing every strand as if it was the softest silk, i chose that (grim one) mainly becuase it appeals to us as a race, our will to go on, but i like your idea of individuality.

yeah I mean...a bit grim though; I think of this as being more for reflection...like after climbing to a summit of a mountain or achieving something ^^

I can imagne this song being played in a movie, where silently children play in a sandbox in a park, when suddenly there is a bright flash as a nuclear war begins, then the camera zooming into the childs blue eye to see the flash in its reflection, then it slowly going dark, then the next scene the same boy is now a man, kneeling in the same sand box letting the sand run through his fingers, as he looks up at a dark sky, in a desolate land, he takes a deep breath as a tear runs down his cheek

For those of you who like Electro Pop, the main "riff" of An Ending has been incorporated in a song made by Frou Frou called Hear Me Out (album : Details). You'll also find a song called Let Go from the Garden State soundtrack.

originally it was from "For All Mankind" a documentary about the Apollo missions to the moon. Its done extremely well. And Traffic is one of the best movies of all time and the ending.... i don't no what to say except it was one of the best as well.
