Well I have yet to find anybody who can judge the Late Ustad Vilayat Khan and his brother Ustad Imrat Khan's talent and their music. Knowledge of music through books is not enough. You can feel his riyaz. This ocean of music can never dry up. I think that Ustad Vilayat Khan a genius sitar player can be compared to all others in the last 75 years or more. It is personal taste that people may like Ravi Shankar or Nikhil Banerjee. Ustad Vilayat Khan still reigns.

Holy shit in the beginning I thought he was starting to levitate. He might as well be. However I partially agree with RandomTask3000, I somewhat prefer Ravi Shankar, they're both greats. I'm not much of a sitar guy, I just like the way it sounds. Haha. Good stuff.

it is khamaj, khamaj uses both nishads. shudh in the rohi and komal in the avrohi.this is obvious if you listen to any world renowned artists' recording.i also have some private recordings of ustad vilayat khan where he's teaching htis raag. here he plays khamaj in which at about 3 mins he plays some raag mala. but the main ang is khamaj. peace

No it is Mishra Mand because he playing Shuddha Ni. Khammaj uses Komal Ni.
