The most important piece of legislation in America today, with nearly 100 cosponsors in the house, H.R.676 is the only health care bill that will truly reform our tragically broken health care system. This is the bill that your insurance company doesn't want you to know about. This is the bill that presidential candidates (except Kucinich) are afraid to talk about, presumably because they like to keep getting campaign contributions from the insurance industry. What would you think about a health care system that actually works for everybody, costs billions of dollars less, provides greater coverage, truly protects you from financial ruin due to medical bills, improves quality, increases innovation, and returns medical decisions to you and your doctor instead of some claims adjuster at an insurance company 1,000 miles away. 31 cents of every health care dollar spent is wasted on administrative expenses and insurer profits in the US system. This is why the US spends double what other industialized nations spend on health care yet has worse outcomes. We need to save that money and spend it on better health care for you, me, and all Americans. Our system is sick and dying, and this is the cure. This footage was take primarily from Congressional testimony given earlier in 2007. To support H.R.676, contact your congressman. why dont they let taxpayers pay for their health care through their taxes like every industralized nation does this would be a feasible solution.

If the US already pays twice what the BEST healthcare systems pay per person, then why ISN'T it a good idea to SWITCH? The only thing the US led in was correct diagnosis. We were 5th-6th in everything else in 6 top countries-37 overall Surprise? Canada was next worst to US! England & Germany BOTH are MUCH better according to studies done. AMA says 59% of it's Doctors want a single-payer plan! So much for the "It screws our Doctors" logic. I'm sure we'll do what ins. lobby propaganda wants

According to the 2006 CDC gov web site it was 43.6 million. So that tells me that even though there may be slight ups and downs, between surverys and years, it's still in the 40 million range. That's not good at all. Health care is a human right!! Please get congress to vote YES to HR 676!!

That's funny, Whoo69, because this is what the 2005 Census Bureau had to say: ..."The number of people with health insurance increased by 2.0 million to 245.3 million between 2003 and 2004, and the number without such coverage rose by 800,000 to 45.8 million." Plus, I don't think Michael Moore would put his reputation on the line in such a big way, if he didn't have his facts straight. Everybody who has disagreed with his facts has been proven wrong on national TV.

Some comments here imply, "My health care is pretty good--and I'm comfortable with a two-tier system." This says to me that too many Americans do not understand the meaning of EQUALITY. Healthcare for all is a right, not a privilege.

Research more skepticfag. Just because Bill O'Really says UHC results in massive rationing doesn't mean its true. What do you think all the denials we have here in the states are? Also, it'd be nice if a large percentage of the 85% that pay for coverage at a ridiculous price actually got it.

Yeah.. and lets keep putting band aids on large wounds so we can help a select few gain a huge profit. The current system is about profit not care.. My mother had cancer and had to deal with constant denials when in fact the procedure was covered. She was sick and had to play games with scum bags that wanted to make a profit from her. You have to realize you are inhumane if you believe a market based system is the way to go..
Whoo69 (January 27, 2008 at 5:42 am)
Instead of overhauling the system and risking possibly permanent damage to our healthcare system with a risky proposal like this bill, why not just pass a bill like Senator Gravel is proposing: universal health care vouchers for lower-income Americans? That way, people who can afford other types of healthcare or insurance can pay, and it can't possibly damage the system. It's obvious the main reason people want NHC is cost.
