Came across this by accident while looking for songs by Richard Thompson. I'm not normally a country fan but this is awesome. Good is good no matter what type of music you play, and this is soooo good.

My b-day surprise from my wife was to see the DM band but we had to drive from Chicago to Nashville = I'd drive to alaska to see them. The real surprise was, she had backstage passes at The Grand Ol' Opry to see them. Del and the boys were strolling around and just picked up some take out from a local restaurant. They let their food get cold to talk to us for about 1/2 hour. Nicest guys you could ever meet! Then we saw the show!! Unfreekin believable. Can't get a better gift than that!

After all these years you can still see how happy Del is when he is performing with the boys and that high lonesome tenor of his just gets better with age, like a real good whiskey. Surely an American institution and yes God bless Del & the boys

Absolute magic. That fiddler gives me chills. And that is a mandolin he is playing. The banjo is a different instrument entirely. Has a round base and larger. Different sound. A bit more twangy than the mandolin. The mandolin has a sweeter sound.
