In a dark age, no one will have the knowledge of the truth. Apparently, these individual's are victims of misinformation. Immortality is based on a relationship with reality that is based on the perspective of an eternal time / space relationship. Apparently these individuals don't have this relationship or any knowledge of one. If and when that changes, they will know the truth, and it will set them free.
Cheers!!!

I believe that this particular research is based on the theory that the physical/chemical configuration of our brain contain our current mind and memories.
I think that a hard drive storing my memories would look the same as my current computer hard drive, full of porn (I joke)
Matrix here we come :p

I agree, if you succeeded in making a copy of yourself without dying, then which one is it really you??

Assuming that you could read a scanned brain, and then a conscious life would come or come back into existence, would there be a continuity between the last life that went out (usually frozen brains aren't working, right)and the new computer based life. Would the new life really be the same person who the brain was taken from, or would that consciousness be lost to oblivion? And could a purely mechanical/conventional style computer really be a suitable housing for consciousness?
