Pablo Casals, quite simply, set the standard of excellence by which all other 'cellists will be forever judged.

I don't feel that this stands out as one of Pablo's best interpetive performances, because of a lack of expressive affect focus. But that said...his playing generally articulated ahead of the perceived downbeat with some variance and his many micro-accelerandi make this nonetheless a 'worthwhile' performance.

Oh, he so is. And if you watch him, it seems almost effortless. I can only imagine how much ime and energy he had to put into getting that good.

Ugh, I'm so jealous.

it's great :) and it sounds somehow spanish, if you compare it with rostropovic's version.. both very beautiful!

This music is very beautiful. But there is a mistake: his name isn't Pablo Casals. His name is Pau Casals. Because Pablo is a Spanish name, and Pau is catalan.

that made me understand that music can transport you in another world... thank you so much mr Casals...
