This music indeed wanna makes you stand up and, like Dylan once sung, wiggle wiggle!

A couple of clashing beliefs there.
I strong believe music is deeply political *because* it brings people together in *fun*, a very subversive thing.
I sort of agree with the anti-politicos that slogans and politicking can really poison the whole thing - it's radical enough just to play and have people remember we're spiritual beings and deep down we're not, as the the big powers that be would have us, made of ticky tacky.

I love the music, but you can keep the socialist beliefs of the singers.
coffee4throad (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
why can't people just dig the music and not dredge up their ignorant BS?

You are a certifiable lunatic. Ron Paul peddles a reactionary utopia.

Long live the socialist labor movement! Rosalie Sorrels also comes from families of both blood and spirit steeped in the labor tradition, so I've responded to this wonderful vid with my recent slide show of Rosalie's song for daughters-Mama. I hope you will enjoy it.

You were labeled a commie if you supported unions. That is not communist it is just wanting business to play fair through private contract and expecting that legal contracts would be enforced. No one wanted the kind of big government socialism that we have today.
The real communists were in the government pushing through crap like the new deal, social security, housing subsidies, the IRS and the federal reserve system that created the depression in the first place so it could take more power.

communists used to be just people who were trying to make a difference for the better, you're exactly right. still, i prefer to call them socialists.
