it shows tat a beautiful song transcends culture and language... wonderful song & hauntingly bitter-sweet whistling, of cos great melancholic voice brings out the real soul of the song. Sakamoto San, RIP!

Wow... I was a little kid, must have been like 4 or so, when my mom played this endlessly at home & it seemed like it was always on the AM radio in our VW Beetle
Great memorial lirat, Mr Sakamoto is eternal!

Lyrics (partial):
It's all because of you,
I'm feeling sad and blue
You went away,
Now my life is just a rainy day and I love you so,
How much you'll never know
You've gone away and left me lonely.
Untouchable memories
Seem to keep haunting me
Another love so true,
That once turned all my gray skies blue
But you disappeared,
Now my eyes are filled with tears
And I'm wishing you were here
With me soaked with love all my thoughts of you

As a youngster in the USA, I heard Kyu's "Sukiyaki" and bought a recording...I did not understand the words, but I loved the style and soulfull singing. The song is timeless and so is Kyu
