Few people are in a class with Dylan, in fact come to think of it I can only think of 2 Ray Davies, and John Lennon.

dylan doesn't sound "pretty." never a sweet voice or a classic voice. he soke of a generation's frustration and upset and hope. and once a voice is attached to those things, one doesn't rate it on the basis of classic beauty. dylan was a poet and his poetry still stings and relates. he was also a great composer and a pretty good musician. for me, his early period was his greatest.i cannot think of a single contemporary musician who means as much to this generation as he did to his. |
