A tribute to Toshiro Mifune, one of the greatest actors of the last century. Music is made by the colective "Geinoh Yamashirogumi" for the o.s.t. of "Akira" (Katsuhiro Otomo). Excerpts from "Sanjuro", "Hidden Fortress", "Musashi", "Shogun", etc.

I lost all my Mifune/Kurosawa and other martial arts DVDs in a burglary in Nov. 2007. I really miss being able to watch them Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Shogun, Redbeard, Hidden Fortress etc., but this snatch of Mifune is very rewarding. When I find the thieves, though, my blade will not be sleeping in its scabbard.

It is rather ironic that the arguably the greatest actor in the japanese film history originally wanted to work in the camera department in Toho studio. Mifune felt that making a living as an actor is not a manly thing. But maybe that's what makes him so rare and fascinating to watch - the most actors have rather feminine and narcissistic traits but this man is straight as hell!

Take the five most popular modern actors you can think of, put them in a blender, and the resulting megaceleb wouldn't have a fraction of the on-screen charisma this man had. Legend.
