it's a myth that Wittmanns panzer was destroyed by air attack...the REALITY is his Tiger was blasted up the ass by a Sherman Firefly..this ignited the ammuition store and blew the turret off..the rear of the Tiger I was always it's weak area

Well Wittman was NOT the best Panzerman in ww2. Nope he was second best. The best was Kurt Knispel with 168 confirmed tank kills. Knispel was a eastern front figther until The King Tiger was sent to the Battlefield. He was one of the first commanders of a King Tiger abtielung. In May 1945, his Tiger II exploded because of burning ammunition after a figth between shermans in the Ruhr Area. He and all of hes crewmen died.
