Lester Young is nicknamed "Prez" not Coleman Hawkins. And in any case, it was just the one sour note the Parker played that really stopped the transition from working. In any case, I loved Bird's solo here.

none better. the best of swing and bop. sonny stitt comes to mind later on. most of his stuff is hard bop though.

u want some more good artists? try john coltrane, and miles davis. parkers better at techique, but coltrane puts his soul into his solos... also try listening to paul desmond
