He knew pretty much what he was going to say in advance based on prior conversations and recorded various response "clumps" of overlapping responses (e.g. YES/NO, Furcoat/Dryer/Basketball Goal, etc.) You can put the "clumps" as a sample on a synthesizer and hit the appropriate key as needed. But you have to be fast on your feet to do it!
