what a tragedy. she certainly was one of the greatest talents to ever pick up a violin, and it makes me very sad that she couldn't have been around longer. she could have been the greatest violinist ever, heck, if she beat oistrakh (in my opinion the greatest ever) at competition, then she might have been! who knows what it would have done for women violinists? it's a shame. but thank you so so so much for this video.

There is a recording of 1948 of Ginette Neveu playing the Brahms concerto with the NDR symphony orchestra, Hamburg. To me, that is THE recording of that crown of violin concertos! Some years ago I listened to a radio programme with memories of musicians of that orchestra. A violinist mentioned exactly those rehearsals in 1948 with Ginette Neveu as the summit of his professional activity! His words made me happy. They confirmed the recording indeed was as outstanding as it is in my mind. (Get it)
