wankery - excessive use of technical know-how for the sake of showing off, doing so within the limits of "proper" guitar playing, meaning no experimental or self-invented techniques. who comes to mind under this idea? dream theatre, muhammad - the guitarist/vocalist of necrophagist, yngwie malmsteen (sp?), and any of those old "shredders". they all sound cliche if you ask me, and knowing how to do what they do doesn't make them best at anything except rehashing and playing by the rules

I think Jeff was the original bassist. Maybe Dave Riley didn't have the time.

That isn't Santiago, it's Jeff Pezatti from Naked Raygun on bass. Where's Dave Riley?

you have to respect a band that will put a sticker on their new album that says basically "not as good as our last one, so don't get your hopes up." it was true, it wasn't as good.

seeing that your favorites are a lot of wankery artists... if you think wankery is what makes an artist good, you know nothing. it's no more than one minor form of utility for expression of music... and those that give art limits and standards (music, visual, or other), don't even deserve to be involved, nor deserve an opinion, because all you'll do is rehash something. too many bands and artists already do that, and jesus fucking christ, is it worthless and annoying!
