Davy Jones has no "Soul"

"The soul of Our Music the monkees music lies somewhere between the 1 1/2, 2 1/2, 3 3/4, and the Giant C Major chord on the piano"
were they making fun of Davy and Charlie Smalls's interview from the previous episode?

It's musician talk. Has to do with the emphasis on the main beat and repetition of the composition.

"because I heard you were really SPIFFY at it"
this is amazing, lol. and nonsensical.

Rockgod111 asks "does anyone understand what theyre on about during 1:44-2:01?"
On a previous episode of 'The Monkees,' Davy had musician Charlie Smalls on as a guest, and their conversation, which was meant in earnest, was about different kinds of soul music, and how in white soul the accent is on the one and three beats, and black soul is on the two and four.
So in *this* clip, Mike and Frank are kinda taking the piss out of Davy and his segment.

they're joking about where the accents are in their songs |
