Agreed. Devolution is fine, but Wales getting full independence would set an example that Scotland and Northern Ireland would quite likely follow, and the UK will cease to exist. Imagine the global consequences of that scenario.

I think Wales and Scotland should both remain part of the UK because the UK offers security which is something that shouldn't be sacrificed justed to call yourself independant.

you'll see that the british people and the spaniards from the mid/north and portuguese from the north are racially the same even the oxford professor Bryan Sykes and all the scientifics studies confirms this theory. nothern/mid spaniards are racially the same as irish/english,a catalonian than scottish,or a basque guy than a guy from wales.english people came from iberian fishermen, english=spanishDESCENDENT.

Glad to see some people have some sense at least. The amount of people who actually want instant independence scares me sometimes.
Ultimately though I think Wales should stay part of the UK.

Wales wouldn't survive if we gained independence now!
Nobody's talking about instant independence. Those in favour of independence are saying things like "Give it 15 years, and we'll be ready to choose."
As Plaid Cymru say, Devolution is a process, not a one-off donation from Westminster. The ball's rolling, and it will keep rolling.
You build the infrastructure, ready for indendence.

What do people think would happen if Wales gained independence right NOW, as
cymruambyth1985 put it? I'm not being ironic, I'd really like to know what people think. Personally, I don't think Wales has the economy or infrastructure to be totally self sustaining and I wouldn't want the country to suffer just to appease a few thousand semi-xenophobic nationalists.
