The infantry req're tank and artillery support--that is why they send a "Battle Group".

Finally at least we now have a government in power that gives a shit about the armed forces and is investing the dollars to boot. (I hope the liberals never get back into power).

in the strictest sense fo the word those aren't 1s. they are kind of a hybrid between 1s and 2s...we call them C2s...check out our defence website for more info

It's been put on public domain by the armed forces (combat camera) so I would guess they know it's safe to release to the public

Right now, the Tories are reaping the benefits of Paul Martin's last three balanced budgets. If they're as bad with Canadians' money as they've historically been, we'll end up with junk anyway. The words LSVW and Iltis come readily to mind now. Point: no matter who's in government, if they have to choose between the Army and, well, just about anything else, the Army gets the leftovers.

least you knew what I meant

Close. This is the first time that canadian tanks have engaged in combat since the Korean war. Canadian tanks were part of 4CMBG stationed in Germany throughout the cold war. Leopard C1s from the Strathcona's were also deployed as part of KFOR in Kosovo.

This is the first time since the korean war that canadian tanks have been on foreign soil :)

They're Leopard C2s, not C1s. That's what DND is saying, and they look like C2s with MEXAS to me. Whether they are the same units that went to Kosovo, that's never been stated anywhere I've seen.
