Amen brother. I just returned from WV and saw all this stuff with my own eyes. Most of the people I talked to were PRO COAL, came from mining backgrounds, and were everyday folks, not environmentalists. However, they were against MTR because of its effect on their health! I saw an elementary school across the street from a coal plant. I don't care what your beliefs are about energy, but that's never right.

CoalBlackRain...I hope you dont use electricity. If you do, it comes from our coal, and you are a hypocrite. West Virginia needs these jobs more than we need more mountains. Have you actually looked at the landscape...We are ALL mountain. We give a little (in comparison to the whole), to gain electricity for over 50% of this whole country's homes and businesses. Common sense.

Coal in West Virginia is as strong as it's ever been. At least 50% of America's power, so many more plants and factories all over the country burn coal to run. I am proud to be a West Virginia coal miner. I wish the mountain huggers would leave us alone, and let us get the coal that a great percentage of you reading this use for power and heat...These are necessities.

Coal in America is declining and will soon be completely over as some of you stated. In places like China though, Coal produces at least 90% of their energy.

I don't care if you think I'm stupid. I live off the grid, fyi, I don't want any fuel that has to do with MTR. Watch the video again. They are DESTROYING West Virginia. Devastating the watershed is like selling your child's kidneys so you can go to Disneyland-- who looks stupid now? Coal is OVER
Joshuapwnzu1516 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You're making yourself look very stupid by chanting "coal is over" again and again....No matter what the politicians say, coal isn't over, coal can't be over. There is no other alternative to produce as much power and as cheap other than nuclear and no one wants to live next to a reactor. CBR, if you're against this practice maybe you should begin now and turn your PC off, try to save something, oh and don't turn your lights on. Fire in the hole!

a mantra is something repeated with the mind and the mouth to create change-- nonviolently. Mantra: Coal is OVER MTR is Wrong, and it has to end. It has to stop. Coal is Over Coal is OVER Coal is OVER there is no future with coal therefore; Coal is OVER
Joshuapwnzu1516 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Coal is far from over. Coal alone produces 50% of electric for America. Its cheap easy to find, and we got lots of it, and thats all big business cares about. You should know by now that we the people don't run America, big business does.

CONSERVE is my mantra as well as stopping MTR - We could start instituting rolling brown-out nights. Provide special sanctions for night-time businesses. Consider a minimal tax for each permanent light fixture in housing and devlepment. Require environmentally sound architectural practices. Wear more sweaters.
