The theme of Indian classical music can be determined from the raga. This is Raga Darbari, a night raga, and was developed for court singing. This one is not religious, although Indian classical music has religious beginnings. It is possible for classical music to be religious too (kinda like Beethoven's 9th, 3rd mvmt).

Todya heard the new of Panditji Kishan Maharaj is no more, he is one who represented the true Banares Gharana. As a person he was one of the most admired from my childhood and was a down to earth person, meeting everyone with respect in Kabir Chaura. God give the strength to the family to come out of this loss.
