Yes, there is some silent newsreel, about 30secs, from the concert with dubbed in music. Jim.

A copple of years ago, maybe 10 or more, I saw a short scene on dutch television from the famous '38 carnegie concert from Benny Goodman, so there must be some footage, that time I was to late to recorded it.

No known sound film from the 1938 concert. Freddie Green? He was a poor soloist, good on the chords and chuncking out the time though. Walter Page took a solo but he only played time. Basie's solo killed everyone! |
