we have work to do. I think that whites shouldnt be afraid to have open discussions about race. I think from all races we should encourage asking why. Why do i see this sort of way of being a lot from this group? I run into grown white ppl who grew up in the same integrated america i did who dont know anything about black ppl other than what they see on tv....i need to stop b/c im soapboxing.

african americans born after the 60s still hear about the humiliation our family went through & it becomes our humiliation too. But even as a 25 yr old i have had someone shout nigger at me as i waited for a bus, had patients that tell me they didnt want me to take care of them b/c i was black (3 months ago), have had ppl MY AGE call me 'colored' a word that has been out of play since before we were born, & had white ppl afraid to touch my hair! I have wht friends, family, & lovers but i still>>

i agree with you tracy...when i see clips where blacks were drawn as hideous monsters who could barely speak it hurts me to watch b/c this is how my parents & grandparents were viewed ppl that are still here that i love. I remember every story of embarassment & injustice they told me. I feel like some whites feel the way to deal w/race is to act like it doesnt exist & to say it happened long ago & not to me personally so why be hurt. But it wasnt that long ago my parents went thru it &>>>

just shows how history changes, I find it hilarious and offensive, and im white. I also think its funny that the mother is the only black person in the audience,
