Well done, im wondering something, im a healthy weight im about 5'6' and weight 8.5 stone... I used to be really skinny and was sick alot, but Until now It never hit me that I might have had an eating disorder.. But now I feel fat all the time and I always count everything, worry about it a fair deal. I hate showing my arms and legs off too much, But im obviously not really skinny, is that bad? thankyou

hi tennisgirl, i just wanted to say that your story has really touched me. I, like you, have suffered severly from anorexia and was also once a champion tennis player! :] unfortunately, my ed destroyed all hopes of being the player i once was. I really hope u are doing well because I am currently at a healthy weight, but still struggling. There is hope and more to life than food and starving yourself to look a certain way. And my heart goes out to all who continue to fight<3 u r all beautiful

I understand how you could be susceptible to becoming anorexic. I just don't see why it would be so hard to stop. It seems like stopping would be such a relief

Yeah Sometimes its hard to understand just what they are thinking! Its hard to explain but yes it is a mental illness and there can be heaps of things that trigger it off. Sometimes they dont even relise!
Media is a big affect. But also sometimes a person may endure it is because they may be depressed, they do it to purposly hurt themselves or they feel like theyre not living up to peoples expectations in how they should look. Theres heaps of reasons and its incredibly hard to stop.

This is very inspiring. It's wonderful that you were able to recover. Congratulations!

Yeah. It's when someone has a distorted mental image of their body and thinks they are fat when they really aren't. They are determined to get skinny and eventually become obsessed. They eat very rarely, and this behavior can become addictive the same way tobacco or other drugs can. It's very sad, really.
