They're the American equivalent of Frieslanders, ha ha. Seriously, Rednecks are American country people. Kind of infers that they are Southern people, mostly rural. Rough and raucous hell raisers. It's one of those negative terms that folks turned around into a prideful self description. I hear the term "redneck" came from the days of the labor riots in early 20th century US. The union guys wore red kerchiefs. I wish they would come back and kick some rich ass right now!
