Rubbish! You really think anyone will believe that you take varmint at that range? At 600 yds with 55gr factory? What scope are you using and do you dial, if so what do you dial? Answer that and I'll believe you.

Not really. It wouldn't even meet legal requirements for the larger deer species. Australia has the worlds largest deer, the Sambar. There are also very large pigs hich a .223 would have a job to knock as many are shot on the run. Not to mention scrub bulls (.223 would just piss them off) wild donkeys and of course camels.

Your pushing it a bit with $200. You really need to be spending at least $500 to get a good scope. Especially if your buying a nice new rifle. A cheap scope will be a hindrance to any target work you do.

Whereabouts are you? You sound like a south-african, but those also sound like Plovers in the background, which I'm pretty sure are native to Tasmania.

Something that pissed me off (as I'm sure it did you wildturk3y) was that Steyr told us that the .223 was comming out with a 10 shot mag. The .223 was never released, which is a bummer. Also, if the .243 had of been available when I brought mine, I would have got that instead. Still, for the size pigs I take with this rifle, it's abilities on porkers have made mine lethal. 2 weeks ago, I took 10 goats in the open with 10 shots. They were dropping like flies, all head shots at 200 metres.
