You want complexity from new bands? TOOl is the first modern band that comes to mind that does it well. As with bands like Dream Theatre, Mars Volta, and Dillinger Escape plan, they make very complicated music too, but I don't think they do it as well as TOOL does, although they are all very different bans. Coheed and Cambria are childs play compared to YES or the bands I listed. Most modern bands don't push them selves musically like bands in the late 60's and early 70's did. Thanks Pro Tools!

I dont think "Coheed and Cambria" is a tad comparable to Yes. Lmao. But, yea new music is pretty bad....not gonna lie.

ThisisBilbo - you may be right. I've actually written a poem about it if you care to offer your opinions?:
What with his wysdom and his chivalrie,
He conquered al the regne of femenye,
That whilom was ycleped scithia,
And weddede the queene ypolita.

BTW, if you can pry yourself away from 1973, give a listen to Faith No More, Coheed and Cambria, Mastodon, Marillion and Tool...for starters. Of course, with a closed mind and closed ears....

Oh dry up...there are plenty of bands then and now who are this complex and can pull it off live. It's a choice to want to play this type of music, too, not just a matter of musical ability or talent. And a lot of 70's progressive music was bloated, pretentious and complex for it's own sake, not musicality. I love Yes, Tull, Rush, etc...but try to curb the old-fart comments that belie age and ingnorance more than content.
