demolishing statement
steveinoakland (July 4, 2008 at 3:58 pm)
You guess wrong (read my comment above). Projecting motives is poor reasoning and arguing with a straw man is weak. You know nothing about me.
I liked this art work. I don't like stupid taggers who spray paint their initials with no creativity on every overpass to mark their gang territory. My experience suggests that city officials make decisions to try to improve our cities. These same people build public transit and city parks that lazy people (like most taggers) never bother to fund.

I am not "reasoning" anything. If you read my actual statement, I was saying that the group is being too critical of the city officials. That is all. Calling honest people who are trying to do the right thing "fuckers" and "facists" is immature. I make no claims that their decisions are the right decisions or the wrong decisions. I do not have the facts they have. I do know that they know their area much better than I do, so they are doing what I assume they think is right. That is all.

oh im sorry but i understand your english.,nd i guess you focuses more at the negative side..thats what i want to say,,you didnt understand the artist and the art.we all know that the police are doing their job but did you think that the artist is also doing his job in your country and you are just in your room typing those stupid things.look in your self first before you leave those comments.did someone die there??all i saw is that the black dirty wall is turning to white...

The message is about more than just washing pollution off of walls.
"If we maintain our current course of fossil fuel emissions or accelerate our emissions, the land and oceans will not be able to slow the rise of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere the way they're doing now," said Inez Y. Fung at the University of California, Berkeley...."If the rate of fossil fuel emissions is too high, the carbon storage capacity of the land and oceans decreases and climate warming accelerates."

Guess Philadelphia's entire mural program has to go, huh? Can't trust drivers to keep their eyes on the road. Of course the imagery isn't as contraversial.
I agree that the city had to wash it away. It was making a very serious statement. They either had to wash it away or address it. Can't have a wake up call staring you in the face everyday w/o it becoming an issue. Better to let people (and the planet) die slowly from pollution than quickly in a car wreck.
I think your reasoning is wonky.

this man is a genius, congratulations from spain;)
fuck the cops
steveinoakland (July 2, 2008 at 2:27 am)
I don't think you understand english. I support the artist. I also support the city removing the art, as it endangers people. If someone hit you and killed you with their car because they are not looking, do you think that is also justified, because it is art?

...oh and furthermore, since he was technically cleaning parts of the wall (not putting any paint on it), it doesn't classify as any form of vandalism. All they can do is take notes on what he's doing and clean up after he's done. |
