I've only heard him do this live a few times, and you can tell it's hard for him emotionally to sing. In the song "Last Day of My Life," he talks about his friend Bobby's funeral, and that's actually the guy he wrote this song with. For me it's the line "we had them rolling in the aisles" that's tough because my best friend and I were Abbott and Costello together, and he chose to throw me away when he got married.

Hey Phil...I met you once when I was in country radio in Hartford. When this song came out...I made sure I played it twice each on my show everyday!!..twice!!...beyond the rules..you know..tight playlist and all...but..I fell in love with the entire song from lyrics to the beginning and the way the drums come in....perfect!!...and I let everyone know it was my newest favorite song...I miss my show....

This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It reminds me so much of me and my husband, word for word. We met and EVERYONE said we were perfect for each other, we always had everyone laughing and wishing to be us, we would even have strangers come up and say they were envious!! We were perfect, and we just threw it away... Its been almost a year since then and now I use it as a lesson for my future. Remember it takes effort to make marriage work, constant effort

This song has always brought tears to my eyes, because of the stark truth in his words,..so many marriages, beautiful beginnings, so many unhappy endings. I often wondered how we fall in love, and how we fall out of it as well. What a hauntingly beautiful song, that I can so very much identify with.
