I disagree Jffry - I learnt much through videos at school & uni e.g the structure of DNA & I never read the literature of Watson & Crick. At some point the discoveries of scientists become popularised into videos for the masses to see. Now simpletons like myself read the literature & IPCC papers and do not understand anything in them which explains a net positive feedback. Reading more waffle ain`t a solution. Does anyone grasp positive feedbacks enough to explain it on video with graphs etc?

With all due respect, BV, readers should judge Spencer's honesty for themselves. My point is that his blog claims to refute positive feedbacks known to amplify CO2-driven warming seriously deviate from what he publishes. More important, CO2-driven warming and its feedback amplification are settled issues in science, whereas the magnitude of feedbacks, hurricane intensity and other details still warrant discussion, as do the best options for reducing CO2 emissions - all legitimate topics here.

Can't anyone read anymore? 99.9999999999999% of science is understood through the literature. Yet, for someone to publicize their presentations seems to get more weight? That's ludicrous. Anyone that understands the literature and the sources from which to get it gets the picture. Otherwise, if you limit yourself to what you want to watch on "TV" you will ALWAYS be uninformed.

Perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to judge just what is known about systems under the umbrella of the Earth system, the interacting components of oceans, geology, and atmosphere. And understanding Earth's history. What insights can be gained by looking at Earth's past within all of these interlocking components. Feedbacks clearly play a role, but assigning numbers and magnitude is contingent on so many factors. There's little doubt feedbacks obviously play a role, to quantify them is the challenge.

Greenguardian - gives us some logic & calculations on why a temperature rise will be amplified in our climate system. Spencer has indeed shown the negative feedback dominance - see his BV videos - why the IPCC models are wrong Pt1 & 2
Grastog has wimped out and cannot give us some logic on the principles or calculations involved - Can you gives us some info. If anyone has a grasp of the concept they should be able to explain it - otherwise (as I have said before) - the idea is BS
Bushvision (October 6, 2008 at 10:32 pm)
Grastog, Spencer is a scientist who is honestly putting out papers with research in them (& allowing people like myself to video his presentations). The ideas & data are worthy of comment - not the man - so (and this applies to everyone) - debate the science - not attack the individuals with slurs or your comments will be deleted.

This is truly a statement of ignorance. You have no clue why gas is as high as it is. Furthermore the biofuels was pushed from the farmer's lobby.
There's ALWAYS been a significant world food shortage and I dare you to find ANY evidence how biofuels have hindered world supply any worse than it already is.

$5 a gallon - you have no idea.
A recent development in the UK is increasing fuel theft. That's one of the incentives that comes with over $12 a gallon.
Not just transport, but home heating oil.
Advice is is to leave the tank unlocked as locking it just gets a hole drilled in the base.
Theory says that UK consumers are miles ahead of you on the road to a low carbon utopia. No congestion, falling emissions of CO2, world-beating public transport.
Think again!

grastog
Exceedingly cynical and crapulent to dismiss others as dishonest, and to discard opposing views as ideology, motivated to perpetuate a myth.
Gonna have to try much harder than that if you want to be listened to.

**I shouldn't be surprised by your difficulty understanding why videos, blogs, etc., are worthless for proving anything**
I second that.
The Real Science is Settled. CO2 is a passenger in wind, weather, and climate, not a driving force of it
The politics is settled, Co2 is killing the world so we must tax the fuck out of it,regulate the fuck out of it, and fine the fuck out of it to "save the world".
It's why gas is $5 a gallon & there is a Global Food shortage from the "Biofuel initiative" |
