...agree with the fact that Cornwall is 2 overcrowed with tourists in the summer. Bumper to bumper traffic to get anywhere is not my idea of fun.

There was a video someone posted that they'd taken at around the same time in Penzance. The waves were much higher and breaking right over the sea wall. So, yes, there's quite a discrepancy in conditions. Makes you realise how St Ives is nearer perfection than anyone suspected now that we can see how sheltered it is.
