My dad said that this song came as a shock to him. The band Aerosmith was all about party and glam, just like any other rock band back then. But then the Janie's Got a Gun was released, a song about a girl who was sexually abused by her father. It was such a dark ontake compared to Aerosmith usual subjects. It gave my dad the chills. Man oh man, I love this song. Steven Tyler has a voice like no other.

-sigh- Can I look at one Aerosmith video without seeing a coment on Steven's mouth? This is an awesome song! And his mouth...I dunno gives him character. If his mouth was tiny and he sang the first "Janie's got a gun" it just wouldn't be the same. Who cares what he looks like, he's an amazing singer for an amazing band.
