If you understand the history of the Knights Templar then you'll appreciate this film far more.. The Knights resorted to eating their horses due to lack of food. Dead animals were fired into castles to spread disease. So you can see all the different historical factors being mashed up in the film..

I love how when they attack the castle the first time it really quickly shows Lancelot swinging and stabbing at the wall
