I haven't misunderstood you!! I completely agree with you.
Read carefully... i said "but a propagandist he [Fink] is NOT" and then continued this point.

They do not realise that our government supported and facilitated Sadam's rise to power. That we ignored his atrocities because he was still a washington yes-man at that time. That we used Sadam to start a brutal bloody decade long war against Iran. That we imposed vicious sanctions through the 90's which killed a UN estimated 1 million Iraqi's mainly from child malnutrition. That the current death toll of the Iraq war is currently estimated at 1.2 million+

Take for example the issue of the Iraq war. To the vast majority of American's, all they know is that Iraq is some Arab country which used to be run by the bad guy Sadamn.

You misunderstood my point. Finkelstein is not a propagandist. He is one of a very limited spectrum of writers and speakers who actually speaks the cold truth about our foreign policies. The propaganda machine is the general mass media.
MrDarkbloom (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Of course, i agree. I welcome anyone to argue Finkelstein's analysis (we should always hear all sides of the argument), but a propagandist he is not. To the best of my knowledge, Fink talks about the facts only.. no bullshit. People argue he has an agenda; so what? An agenda for peace and justice perhaps? That seems a damn good agenda to me. And as long as he tells the truth and gives accurate information, he will be respected and admired.

You cant have true democracy unless there is true and free media. Our media is nothing more than a propaganda tool that is used to shape public thought. Most things people know about American foreign policy for example is a delusional candy coated fantasy.

So, Carter isn't antisemetic. Fine, i agree with you. You would have to give me the source of your actual Carter quote, though so i can check it. I personally struggle to name ANY country that is a 'wonderful democracy'... most (including US and Israel) are flawed democracies where the business elite get what they want and try their hardest to keep it that way.

hes not antisemetic
President Carter has frequently reiterated the point that his "use of 'apartheid' does not apply to circumstances within Israel."[102] Regarding the title of his book Carter has said:
"It's not Israel. The book has nothing to do with what's going on inside Israel which is a wonderful democracy,
you know, where everyone has guaranteed equal rights and where, under the law, Arabs and Jews who are Israelis have the same privileges about Israel |
