--And since we're on the topic of authors (strictly authors) & you brought up the issue of "when blacks use racist comments and other nationalities towards us caucasions." Which authors are you referring to? Be specific.
CitySon (September 4, 2008 at 7:49 pm)
You said it yourself that racism is racism. I am not refuting that. However, the topic of discussion here is HP Lovecraft & his literary contributions as some (not all) were blatantly racist & further played on the sub-human/fear-ladened stereotypes asscoiated with people of color as based on his PERSONAL insecurities. His parents being psychotic had NOTHING to do with his lack of MATURITY as a SANE adult to surpass the prejudices of his time as he so innovatively did with the Sci-Fi genre.

No, I am simply asking you to answer what it is called when blacks use racist comments and other nationalities towards us caucasions. Racism is Racism. Lovecraft was attacking what he did not understand and plus we can always go back to the basic 101 of his personality "Partly because of his parents he was psychotic". So just know your basic Lovecraft research. And yes I have seen all those "Studies" and they are crap. Read Dreamer on the night side by his friend Frank Belknop Long.

Once again, that's your CHOICE to discredit my research. The very ignorance that HP used is apparently reflected in your denial of THE FACTS. Afterall, HE's the one that made it a literary obligation to include demonizing stereotypes of PEOPLE OF COLOR (not just blacks--as I have consistantly stated) Do your research, man. I did mine. It's VERY accessible information.

Okay, then going by that logic only white people can be racist. What about the blacks who call us "Cracker" or "Honkey". Discrimination is discrimination plain and simple man.

True Alexthethin. There is a lost picture, probably in the archives at Brown University, of a picture drawn by Lovecraft and words below it that say something to the effect of "Hitlers face is the true face to Pickman's model".

CitySon, you do not know one minute piece of information regarding Howard Phillips Lovecraft. But regardless, the one thing that remains true concerning all things is "Relativity". Everything in life is relative. Einstein believed it and so did H.P. and it is true the world over-even my words, your words, and every individual youtuber.

The point I was making is that he added fuel to the fire by continuing to perpetuate these cultural falshehoods. Every white person in Lovecraft's day wasn't a racist. It wasn't true then, it wasn't true during slavery, & it's not true now. However, Lovecraft's initial thought process on this issue could've been alleviated had he possibly befriended some people of color or had white friends/associates that understood & empathized with the societal unfairness as it pertains to race. CHOICES
CitySon (September 3, 2008 at 12:14 pm)
It was an indirect comparison. Of course Lovecraft NEVER committed the sort of atrocities Hitler did. However, those notions of hate-filled, stereotypes are a direct reflection of what racism represented to GENERATIONS of people of color that were blatantly & systematically oppressed by it. You don't write a poem called, "On the Creation of Niggers" without some personal thought on the issue of race & how certain misnomers affect the people your talking about & other people's impression of them

Anyone who would liken H. P. Lovecraft to Adolf Hitler immediately loses all credibility.
