Shooting an AR-15 at 860yds is pretty fun, and not a little challenging. This video includes a target camera and split screen, showing trace ("vapor trail") along with the time lag between shot and hit.

excellent video! you rarely see such a good footage! Got 2 questions: 1. Whats the size of the target plate? 2. What scope did you use?

i respect both caliber of bullets and the .300 win mag has alot more muzzle energy and hits harder up close but the 7mm mag fires alot faster moving round and it carries its velocity alot farther, it is acctually proven that just because of its velocity it is carrying more energy at long range than the slower moving/heavier round of the 300

i dunno where you heard tha but a .30 cal bullet that the 300 win mag shoots has a greater sectional density than that of of 7mm(.284 cal). The 300 win mag also offers bullets with a higher ballisctic coeficcient than any bullet offered for the 7mm. Of course the 300 H&H doesnt come close to the 7mm but the 300 win mag out shoots the 7 mm anyday. The heavier bullet selection is also less affect by wind which would throw the 7mm way off course.

7 mm mag is carrying more ballistic energy past 500 yards than any of the 300's including the wheatherby, H&H and Win mag

nice video man.why don't you put a car door at that distance and check if the bullet can penetrate it.

What parts are you using on that. Bet you get some really nice 100 yard groups.

I would certainly sleep with a rifle like that. I would even pray with it.:)
