because they were participating as part of a team that represented great britain as a whole, not just wales. i do understand your point that the national anthem they play is only sung by the english, but if they were to start bringing welsh and scottish national anthems into it as well it would probably be too much hassle. plus the americans would get confused, seeing as most of them call the british isles as a whole england :P

tell me... why is it that whenever a Welsh athlete won at the Olympics they had to play the English National anthem?
I have no problem with England or the English... but We have our own anthem and flag!

it really annoys me when they have singers for the home team. i just want to hear thousands of proud welsh voices singing their hearts out not some woman drowning them out

a throughly proud britain, i am english, and love a lot of the pomp ceremony that you get that comes from being a part of this wonderful nation, but my goodness standing in cardiff stadium and listening to this was one of the most spine tingelling moments of my life. well done the welsh again with another soul baring song

chickbabex, dear me, good god, I love being from wales etc but u do us no good whatsoever as regards to our of intelligence, do u not know that they speak gaelic in scotland AND ireland? yes, meaning we are not the only country in britain who speak 2 languages. shockin. |
